Media Reception and Effects

The "Media Reception and Effects" division of the German Association of Communication is concerned with research on the effects of mediated communication on its audiences and its users. More specifically, our members’ interests include media exposure, media use, media message processing, adoption of media, and media effects (both short-term and long-term).

The division aims to advance knowledge in the field of media exposure, media processing, and media effects by providing a platform for the exchange of ideas. In order to do that we organize conferences and advocate for an integration of research findings on media effects into syllabuses and professional practice both inside and outside university research institutions. The division also promotes international collaborations and young scholars.
